With acupuncture treatment, fine, sterile needles will be inserted into specific areas along the body's meridians called acupuncture points. This helps clear energy blockages and encourages the normal flow of qi through the patient. The practitioner may also stimulate the acupuncture points using other methods such as moxibustion, cupping, laser therapy, electro-stimulation, and massage in order for the qi flow to return to normal.

The acupuncture method is used to treat a wide range of health conditions, from pain relief to fertility and IVF support. Some people feel a slight discomfort briefly as the needles are placed, while others feel nothing at all. However, once the needles are in position, there should be no pain at all—only a tingling and warm sensation, which is a good sign.
